Jan 14, 2019 at 5:04 comment added Jim Stewart The receptacle is too far into the wall. Probably this is due to the box being too far in. You can buy little plastic shims to shift the receptacle out and allow it to be screwed so tight there is no movement. I have had to use these extensively in my house to tighten springy receptacles. homedepot.com/p/Ideal-Spacers-25-Pack-172451L/202937111

Additional question and revision
Jan 13, 2019 at 20:49 comment added Michael Karas It really is hard to tell without seeing what is under the cover plate. If you are greatly concerned about the thing then turn off the circuit breaker that manages that circuit and leave it off till this gets resolved. You are correct that having the outlet move around is not a good thing, however if you get the correct breaker turned off then you can safely remove the cover plate without concern. Once off take the picture and post it here so others can help evaluate the situation.

Additional question
Jan 13, 2019 at 20:41 comment added Steven Smith I can't as of this moment, but do you assume that what I did may or may not have damaged the outlet by a large margin, since the shift I made to the receptacle was very insignificant.
