How to repair separated rails and stiles on solid wood doors

Is the joint still solid? That is, if you grab the two pieces on either side and shake them, is there any movement? If it's solid, then it means that the gap is just a result of shrinkage, and it's ...

What are the standards for acceptable installation of *prefinished* solid wood pine flooring?

What you show is not acceptable. Without seeing the overall floor I couldn't say whether the whole job is unacceptable or just those few spots. It looks to me like his miter saw is off by a degree or ...

Do fence pickets need to be totally dry before installing?

That depends partly on the fence design. If you're doing something edge-to-edge, installing water-swollen pickets will result in gaps once the wood dries out. Otherwise, it's more likely that the ...

What are the standards for acceptable installation of *prefinished* solid wood pine flooring?

I've never seen flooring like this installed without mitering the edges. Filling in those gaps with a wood filler and refinishing would look terrible. Tongue and grove is done for a tight fit and ...

New home owner in the north east US. Love this tree but wondering if it needs cut down or how to maintain

That really is too close to the foundation. At a minimum you should trim it so it doesn't contact the house. Longer term, I would indeed consider removing it. Transplanting isn't really an option.

Do fence pickets need to be totally dry before installing?

If they are not dried the fence will end up having gaps of about 1/4 to 3/8 between the (6 inch) pickets. This is still enough for privacy but will not be 100% view blocking.
