Putting two separate drains in the same trench is more likely to work that what you propose which is putting more water into the french drain that it can handle.

French drain below foundation level, problem solved. Anything less than that, problem potentially remains. And crip659 s also correct - you should fix the grade - my rule of thumb is that you want at least 12 feet around the house to slope away from the house by at least 1%, 2% better. i.e. the part 12 feet from the house should be 1-1/2" to 3" (or ...

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. http://www.gradybarrels.com/rain_barrel_photos.html Install rain barrels as a buffer. They can capture the heavy rain and so decrease the volume your french drain needs to accomodate at any one time. You could leave one open to the french drain at a rate it can handle, or to a hose down the driveway since it is not ...

You have two choices (see sketch) - 1) Continuous Footing (left), and 2) Full Basement (right) The pier or pile foundation is not ideal for your location, since soil below the slab and pile cap will get freeze when cold hits, and thaw when the ground getting warm, which will exert a tremendous amount of uplift on the structure above. The pile needs to be ...
