Extra deep U-channel affixed to the vent and beam essentially rigidly, letting the dry wall float in the channel.  Use a forklift to install it, a big fork lift. Don't let a paint-seal form between the drywall and the u channel or it'll look uglier than whatever, so cut with at least a coat of primer before you hang.
