I am looking to change the outer appearance of a fireplace (from a brick fireplace to tiled) and am looking on advice on how to go about to do this (complete newbie here).

The current fireplace looks like this. Its traditional redbrick fireplace.

We are looking to get to something like this. Not exactly, but definitely the tiles and slab if possible.

The only understanding I have about this is that a sheet rock can be layered on top of the bricks and then the tiles can be applied on the top of the sheet rock.

Can someone suggest steps on how to go about this?

  • Hopefully this is specific enough. – vivekian2 May 23 '16 at 20:52
  • No, sorry. Asking for entire tutorials is not appropriate for our Q&A format. – isherwood May 23 '16 at 20:53
