I have a Porter Cable model 314 trim saw. When using it the other day, it stalled in the cut. Ever since then, it sometimes will not turn on, but you can move the blade just a tad and will turn on. Also the brushes spark quiet a bit. I checked the commutator and found a spot that is grayish colored and whenever the saw fails to turn on you, you can turn the blade slightly and one of the brushes will have been resting on that spot.

Could someone please explain how to get the armature out of this saw so I could maybe sand the commutator to get rid of the burned spot, then use a broken hack saw to slightly cut the commutator slots. I already have the blade guard, handle, and the casing screws separated from the saw, but cannot separate the armature housing from the gear housing. The two sections will rotate, but not pull apart. What else do I need to do? I apologize for being so long winded in explaining the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
