I have a Dunkirk Gas boiler with an Amtrol Extrol expansion tank

Have a weird situation

During the winter when it is very cold out, my heat does not turn on automatically. My thermostat may say 70 but the only way I get the baseboards to heat up is to run the hot water in my sink for 15 seconds or so and then I hear the heat kicks on and basebaoards start to warm up. I may need to do this several times a day so overnight we wake up to 55 degrees and start the process again.

Had people look at it, but no luck. I have replaced the thermostat in living room

any ideas?

  • On the bright side, 55 degrees is a lot better than, say, 27 degrees. ;-) – Craig Jan 3 '15 at 14:25
