As part of using a reusable respirator (such as a 3M 6000, 6500 or 7500 series), one is supposed to check leakage around the seal with the face by blocking the exhalation valve and exhaling (a positive pressure seal check). When performing this check, is any amount of air leakage through an intake valve acceptable? If so, about how much?

As you said, you are checking the face seal, not the inhale valves. The inhale valves are protected by the filters. The purpose of the test is to ensure that you're not going to inhale unfiltered contaminates from around your cheeks, nose, or chin.
