Attached photo is of a mid century split level roof with gabel ends at 5:12 pitch, there are (5) irregularly spaced 2x4 post supporting the ridge beam which sit on a 16 feet long (2)2x18 wood beam. The wood beam is suppported by a load bearing walls on the floor below. The roof was re-shingled 12 years ago, and my guess is that these supports were placed to correct a sagging ridge beam. My question is can I remove the post and beam without the roof caving in? Am i being paranoid?
Thanks
