I'm wondering if these rooftop tiles are made of clay and what is that dark grey material that keeps them together.

Could they potentially contain toxic material? (e.g. asbestos)

Thanks in advance.

There is no way to identify asbestos or asbestos-containing building products by looking at a photo. Get a sample tested by an lab and then you'll know. – jwh20 Sep 27 '20 at 20:33

I’m voting to close this question because asbestos cannot be identified by a picture - proper testing needs to be done. – FreeMan Sep 28 '20 at 11:43
  • @FreeMan so are you saying there's no one who could have run into these tiles or have working experience with them that cannot determine what I asked? I have zero knowledge of constructions, "have them tested" means nothing to me as I don't know what this takes. Also my question's also about the black material used, if it's cement, tar or whatever. – flaneur Sep 28 '20 at 12:03

@FreeMan ...although it has to be noted I never asked to identify asbestos. My question was if clay or whatever the tiles are made of, could contain asbestos. Either way, I edited the title of the question along with the rest of the text. – flaneur Sep 28 '20 at 14:14
