I have a dimplex solar heating system with a water cylinder. Been fine for 5 years but in recent weeks even with hot weather I'm getting 15 seconds of hot water in the kitchen and then lukewarm water thereafter. The bathroom which is slightly further away only gets lukewarm water.

Pressure is fine. The controller wasn't touched when the issue started.

Going to cost the best part of £200 just to get it checked so any help and DIY checks you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • In a normal water heater, that would indicate a broken/missing dip tube (in US parlance). – Harper - Reinstate Monica Sep 15 '20 at 18:44
  • Could there possibly be a leak? – jwh20 Sep 15 '20 at 18:55
  • Is the tank adjacent to the solar panel? or attached with long pipes and a circulating pump? – Polypipe Wrangler Sep 16 '20 at 8:38
  • I'm on the ground floor of a 3 story flat/apartment. So it's solar panels feeding into a cylinder. – James Cunningham Sep 17 '20 at 9:56
