After removing a leaking shower base in a house built in the 1980s, I ran into this threaded metal sewer end with what appears to be plastic inside.

I was able to un-thread the old metal shower drain with plenty of WD-40 and patience.

Now I need to know what to replace the metal threaded shower drain with. I tried a 2 inch PVC threaded adapter but the metal threads for the sewer pipe are tearing the PVC and getting stuck.

shower drain
