How do you extend a capped wooden fence? Uncapped wooden fence can use something like this, but capped fence won't fit. I thought about screwing a vertical post to the existing fence, and install fence on the additional post, but it doesn't feel very strong.

So by "extend", you mean increase the height of the fence? If so, if you attach a post the entire height of your existing posts (plus the new height) with multiple attachment points, it should be strong enough. But wind loading may still be an issue if you are anywhere that gets subjected to strong winds. The shear (sideways) forces increase exponentially with height. A higher fence may need stronger posts anchored deeper than what you currently have. We have no way to tell from afar. – JRaef Apr 22 at 19:08
