We built a log home in 2017 in south Fl. We used open cell SF in the roof, and we have a metal roof on it. Almost within 6 months my 3 mini splits did not cool our area. It’s a 800sq ft log home with a 21ft cathedral area. Now all 3 mini split coils leak terrible. The maker of the mini split says our house is too tight and the gas from the spray foam is causing the coils to corrode. By making a vent will it help to prevent coils from leaking if new mini splits are installed

  • When you say leak are they leaking Freon or water? Are the mini splits DIY install? The reason I ask about diy is a couple of months back I had a hvac class and their are a lot of mini splits failing for low Freon (leaking from day 1) , if the drain pans are plugged and leaking water that could be a byproduct of the insulation. For the insulation to etch an aluminum coil it would be extremely toxic and would even damage other aluminum in the home I doubt that would be the problem. Could you provide additional information on the unit(s) ? – Ed Beal Nov 1 '19 at 13:40
