I'm trying to mount a tv in the new apartment. I thought I found and marked the studs and drill holes, but when trying to drill though met resistance. I'm able to look into the wall a little because of a chute for the wires and I don't believe I see any actual studs, mostly metal. Does this mean there are metal studs? And if so how can I go about mounting the TV? Thanks a bunch.

Have you checked with the building management about what they know and what they want tenants to do for mounting TVs? – Jim Stewart Jun 25 '19 at 11:52

At the very bottom of the picture, there appears to be a horizontal 2x4. This would be a great place to put the bolts for mounting your TV. – FreeMan Jun 25 '19 at 13:06

Possible duplicate of Mounting TV on metal studs? – isherwood Jul 25 '19 at 13:38

Yes. It looks like metal studs. You can use a piece of plywood just smaller than the TV on the wall and mounted to the studs to help distribute the weight. I've mounted a few like that.

This answer would be better with some indication how the plywood should be mounted. What fasteners? How many? Any special considerations due to the steel studs? – isherwood Jul 25 '19 at 13:37
