I am extending a concrete patio in my backyard and have decided to connect the new slab to the existing slab, but I am using asphalt impregnated boards to form an isolation joint between the new slab and the foundation of the house. I have glued the board to the foundation with construction glue but the surface upon which I glued the board is uneven, causing some gaps at the top and bottom of the board. Should I seal these gaps so that water and bugs cannot get in between the board and the foundation? If so, how should I seal them?

  • I’ve never seen it sealed, but I don’t know how big the “gaps” are you describe. – Lee Sam Jun 24 at 21:21
