I had gum that stuck to the carpet. So after removing most of it and cleaning the carpet and my chair's wheels going over it for months, a thin hard layer of gum seems to have infused with the carpet over time. It seems my only way to get rid of it and make it not show like this is to do a repair. I am not sure if I have any carpet scraps somewhere.

What are my repair options?

  1. Cut a square around it and cut a same size square from a scrap and fit it in?
  2. Remove some carpet threads from somewhere obscure and glue it over this area?
