Our porch is quite old and the vertical parts of some of the window frames have started to rot out:

Replacing these seems pretty much as simple as buying new wood and tacking them together in the '+' arrangement. I don't know how else to describe it - but essentially building 4 corners as inlays for the windows themselves.

Here are two pictures with the sliding window open and closed:

I would be shocked if these were load-bearing given the size of the board and the general state of disrepair. Am I missing anything important here? Can I just rip these out with a crowbar/sawzall and nail in new pieces?
