I have some doors next to each other, all with Kwikset locks keyed the same way. The deadbolts are set so that horizontal is locked, vertical is unlocked. There is no general consensus on which is best, but I like this way because it mimics that the deadbolt is extended.
There is lock with a quarter turn inside locking mechanism like this:
This one is backwards. Vertical is locked and horizontal is unlocked. I checked inside, and the hole doesn't have a
+ configuration at the latch, so I can't rotate anything, in fact the knob has a
C-shaped hole, so there is only one way to install it.
Is there a setting in the knob so I can rotate the mechanism and have them all consistent?
