I am working on tiling my kitchen backsplash with allen + roth Wavecrest White Gloss Subway Wall Tile (Common: 4-in x 12-in; Actual: 12.75-in x 4.25-in)

My questions are:

  1. Should I use thin set mortar instead of mastic and vice versa? Because mastic is obvious so expensive as the MAPEI Type 1 Mastic (1-Gallon) said to Tile up to 12-in x 12-in on walls?? That is 1 gal per square feet, translating to 73 gallons required??

  2. Is it OK to do backsplash in multiple days? This is due to my health and timing. I can only do portion of it and then do more "tricky" cutting around outlets in different days.

Any advise is great Thanks

  • I think you might be interpreting it wrong, it means you can use it on tiles that are up to 12"x12" – freshop Oct 16 '18 at 16:13
