I have a sleeper sofa that has always been difficult up open. I took it apart and found the plastic guide track, linked below, to be broken. Replacement parts aren't available.
One complication is that the back portion of the sofa wall is hollow and unsupported.
I've considered a few options but would like recommendations on what may be most likely successful.
- Fill in gaps along the exposed wood portion of the guide track with a two part epoxy
- Use a moldable thermoplastic (beads, etc…) to fill in the missing portion. Bonding to the existing plastic is a question here
