I picked up Vinyl plank flooring to swap out the carpet in my living room. The second I removed the carpet I noticed high spot that appears to run the width of the living room. When I placed the 6.5ft level over the high spot my level teeters. It appears to run along the joist based off of the nail pattern.
Looking online I came across an article that provided some guidance for fixing this with a planer.
The example shows how to fix what appears to be a 2x10 or 2x8 beam. From what I can see from the small portion of subfloor that I removed it looks as though I have some sort of joist construct that looks similar to Pryda Longreach Truss Joists. Not sure if I can or should plane this joist down since there's not much meat to it.
Also if I can plane it down a small amount I ran into another issue. The joists don't all run the same direction. The joist that is causing the issue is the last joist that runs width wide and the following side it appears to run perpendicular. Trying to figure out how I can determine an even level when planing that joist.
Thanks and sorry for being so long winded. Ken
