I have a new home constructed 10/16. The washer was installed at the time of closing. We did not have an issue until January when the washer required a self clean cycle. With about 10 minutes left on the spin cycle, it tripped the breaker. We set it back and it finished. Since then, around 7 out of 10 spin cycles it trips the breaker, we reset it and go on our way. Some spin cycles it takes 5-6 times for us to reset the breaker before the washer will actually finish.
We had a tech come out yesterday 2/15/17, and couldn't find anything wrong with the washer. He called Samsung and they told him we need to switch the breaker from a Square D to a Siemens or a GE breaker. My fiancé was home, and I wasn't, she passed on that samgsung said it had to do with the digital read out from the washer and it works with the other breaker brands. After doing some research, it seems that many people have issues with either AFCIs or GFCI breakers.
I can buy a square D AFCI breaker only. Any suggestions if that is worth a try? The other brand breakers GE or Siemens aren't the same shape, they are much shorter, so I'm not sure how well they will mount in the box. Would the brand really make a difference if it is AFCI/GCFI combo? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
