Beautiful fan..problem... We connected it the lights and fan do not work independently of each other. I have two wall switches it has an internal receiver and remote. It has 4 wires, green white black and a thick black wire. How can I connect the fan so the light and work separate of each other with the light switch/s

  • Welcome to DIY.SE! Can you post pictures of the fan box in the ceiling and the wires in the fan? A model number for the fan would also be helpful. – mmathis Oct 21 '16 at 17:55

Usually when the unit is controlled by a remote module, the whole unit is powered by a single switch. The remote is the only way to control the fan and lights, other than turning the whole unit on/off. Basically, you can use a remote or two wall switches to control the unit. – Tester101 Oct 21 '16 at 18:34
  • @Tester101 -- there are other things you can do, but they require sneaky relay tricks, and limit what you can do in terms of fan control/dimming. – ThreePhaseEel Oct 21 '16 at 22:29
  • How important is it to you that you be able to control fan speed and/or light dimming from the remote? – ThreePhaseEel Oct 21 '16 at 22:30
