Jun 29, 2016 at 16:17 | comment | added | TafT | Here in the UK the ambient temperature is generally colder but it sounds like our heated pools (we have some unheated outdoor ones too) can be as low as 26C. Competitive & fitness swimming, training 26-28. Recreational swimming 27-29. Leisure waters 28-30. Children's teaching 29-31. Babies, young children, disabled & infirm 30-32. So 29C sounds normal or possibly even a bit cool for some. This is based on: edlc.co.uk/pdf/PWTAG%20CodeofPractice1.13v5_000.pdf I know I have been in fitness pools at 27C and it is cool when you get in but OK once you are moving about.

Jun 27, 2016 at 21:04 | comment | added | Michael | @Yehuda_NYC Wait, only 83.5F? That seems a bit on the cool side to me... our pool only gets up barely above that in the summer and even when temperatures hit 100F it still seems cold after being in it for very long. That's almost 15F below body temperature, and water is a much better conductor of heat than air.

Jun 27, 2016 at 17:30 | comment | added | njzk2 | that's almost 29C! that's very hot!
Jun 27, 2016 at 15:34 | comment | added | Yehuda_NYC | Pool is set to 83.5 or so. We keep it open from end of May through mid-Sept, or later if it is warm out.
