I'm also a bricklayer of 35yrs and in the UK a 1:3 mix is considered strong (think blue bricks and engineering bricks). 'Normal' bricks would be a 1:4 to 1:5 mix depending on exposure. Internal blockwork not subject to weather would typically be 1:6 right up to 1:9 for lightweight blocks. | |
