The odds of the homeowner having a round file small enough and the skill to use it to good effect are nil. The hole edges will snag a small blob of lint and it won't make any difference in the long run. | |

Specifically, I'd want to make sure there were no raised edges inside the duct that would catch lint and make a spot for it to clog or otherwise spoil flow. | |
