Mar 14 at 20:01 comment added Tim Sparkles I would strongly recommend dropping a new cable and running it back to the panel or to an existing junction box for a lighting circuit. While you can put lighting and receptacles on the same circuit in most rooms, it's better in a lot of ways to keep them on separate circuits. Two concrete examples of why: 1) In my house, the dining room lights dim when the microwave is running in the kitchen. It's annoying. 2) If a plugged-in device trips the breaker, it's nice to still have lights in the room.
