Jun 27, 2013 at 14:51 comment added kaiser @ppumkin Oh, sure it can be answered. There's not much choice here: EL-Wire, or Fiber Glass. Fiber Glass works with breaking the light in such a flat wave, that it can't exit the housing (fiber glass string), it will have the most loss of energy at its end. As there's an open end showing that it doesn't "glow" more at it, it's surely not Fiber Glass, but more likely EL-Wire, which also can be purchased in a much greater diameter. Thanks for your help tough - upvoted :)

Jun 27, 2013 at 14:41 comment added Piotr Kula Unfortunately this question is open to speculation and cannot be answered. The only person who can answer it is the designer and maintainer. Although, I hope that you got some insight into this if you were going to try and replicate it.
Jun 27, 2013 at 14:32 comment added Piotr Kula Well I suppose if you used glass then yes :) But I know you can bend PCV tubes like this with a machine into any angle you need without warping the plastic... but you also need to find somebody with that machine and tubes. Without a doubt. This is a really amazing piece of modern art :) I love it!
Jun 27, 2013 at 14:28 comment added kaiser @ppumkin I doubt that it will cost $100 to make. The borosilicate glass is used in laboratories as it's chemical and temperature resistant. Getting your hands on that, forming tubes out of it and purchasing it in such a lenght... you know the rest ;)
