clarify that a straight-in fitting is used
Oct 15, 2022 at 21:07 comment added ThreePhaseEel @Mazura -- you'd be using a straight-in connector instead of the right-angle for getting the FMC into the breaker box in that case, let me clarify that in the answer
Oct 15, 2022 at 20:41 comment added Mazura Pulling 8 wires thru 3/4 Flex "Good luck! Should have put that wire in first before you installed the flex." electriciantalk.com/threads/pulling-8-wires-thru-3-4-flex.43426 ... Some code? My favorite part : "110.12. Mechanical Execution of Work. "Electrical equipment shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner." - screwing the next guy is not workmanlike.
Oct 15, 2022 at 20:30 comment added Mazura But why is there a 360 rule if my fish tape is going to hit that fitting on the top of the load center and stop, if I'm lucky enough for it to get passed the first fitting (which definitely cannot be buried forums.mikeholt.com/threads/…) for that reason ). 99% chance I'd have to bust the drywall and pull the fitting off. So just do it in EMT ;)
Oct 15, 2022 at 20:29 comment added Mazura 348.42 Couplings and Connectors "Angle connectors shall not be concealed." up.codes/s/flexible-metal-conduit-type-fmc - I guess it's just those, because there's no way in hell you can pull though them, but a straight connector is ok even though that's a pita. If I see EMT (that isn't just for protection, i.e., it's required by code) I expect to be able to pull through it.
Oct 15, 2022 at 19:56 comment added ThreePhaseEel @Mazura -- being unable to have flex in a wall is news to me -- can you provide a Code cite for that one?
Oct 15, 2022 at 19:31 comment added Mazura Can't bury flex in a wall where EMT is required by code as that's not pullable.

Mar 28, 2021 at 17:47 comment added Ed Beal Ok that was not clear but a box extension would be the normal way to make this transition with surface mount as any splices have to be accessible.

add EMT bending vs. FMC for drywall dive, add pic of extension box
Mar 28, 2021 at 15:27 comment added ThreePhaseEel @EdBeal -- I'm referring to something like a Steel City 52C6 where the cover is blank save for the KO. I'll add the reference to the answer
Mar 28, 2021 at 15:10 comment added Ed Beal Um using a KO on a faceplate? What about the dead face? I don’t know an inspector that would allow that. A KO into the box sure.
