May 8, 2018 at 14:14 comment added Patrick M No cutting was required. The bottom part of the T was able to slip into the bend of the trap by unscrewing the joint and sliding the compression ring upwards on the T – this is the joint just visible at the bottom of my picture. If I did want to lower it to the full 1/4" past level, I would need to get a longer drain pipe for the sink and I may have to cut some off the bottom of the T connector, or else it would bend the whole trap assembly lower.
May 6, 2018 at 19:58 comment added Alaska Man @user76730 No that is not correct. the bottom of the tee is below the pipe from the disposal. Cutting off the bottom of the tee will raise the plumbing ( trap ) that is below it. The whole tee needs to be lower.
May 6, 2018 at 19:53 comment added user76730 Cutting off the bottom of the tee would lower the entire tee thereby lowering the left side of the horizontal pipe in question. The tailpiece above the tee may then have to be longer to make up the difference unless I am looking at the picture wrong.
