Jan 14, 2013 at 11:10 comment added Steel Banding The product in the image above is call stainless steel banding. They are very strong and can be used for many purposes. You will also need to get your hands on a banding tool as well if you are planning to use them.

Also, a lot of cable ties aren't really that strong - they are for tieing cables together, not supporting loads. And a 2'x2' column needs a cable tie that is over 8' long - I've never seen one of those!
