I'm the sole developer for a publishing house, doing on-line courses and exams.

We have a web designer, who typically does layouts and courses, but I do anything that involves programming logic.

comment What to look for in buying laminate flooring
Most products will have an AC-# rating. This is a European durability rating. Stay away from 1 & 2 altogether. 3&4 are fairly easy to find. 3 would be ok for a bedroom, and 4 for hallways and living rooms. 5 is industrial grade, and you'd use it for high traffic retail/banking areas..

comment What direction should laminate flooring be placed in?
@Keiths This will work on hardwood. Most laminates have end T&G that is incompatible with the edge T&G, making this a non-starter.

comment What are some tips for installing laminate wood flooring?
I've found tapping with a hammer to be rather unnecessary -- Just keep the joints clean. But, if you do need to tap, sacrifice one board by cutting off about 4" of the trailing end, and from this piece, get rid of the leading edge. This piece now becomes your "Persuader". Clip it into the board, and whack away.

It would be nice if someone made a blog post about this type of project -- Something like this: diy.blogoverflow.com/2012/09/…

comment How do I measure the leg positions for a three-legged table with a circular top?
Presumably, one has already found the center in order to cut the table top.

You have to repair the wall anyways. A slightly larger hole isn't any more work.

I missed the Fluorescent part. I re-read the questions several times to check, but I didn't actually read the question title.

Look in the ceiling box and see if you have a copper wire screwed to the metal box.

comment How can I temporarily seal a gap underneath my door to stop water getting in while it's raining?
Actually, the drain seems to be counter productive here. A sand bag over the drain might be the answer. (Provided you don't get too much rain on the balcony itself)

comment What DIY tools are very critical for plumbing works and repair?
MAPP is critical if you are going to solder brass fittings such as faucets. Propane doesn't seem to get hot enough to make a good solder. (Although it works great on pipe - pipe joins)
