I'm the sole developer for a publishing house, doing on-line courses and exams.

We have a web designer, who typically does layouts and courses, but I do anything that involves programming logic.

comment Should I use steel or wood studs for basement exterior walls?
I ended up with steel studs and spray foam insulation. It's rock solid.

comment Why does my pool pump keep tripping the breaker?
@MarcusSteele Either you're not explaining things properly, or everything is completely FUBAR'd. I don't think you're going to get useful advice here. Call an electrician.

comment My house was hit by lightning. What should I do?
Depending on the strata agreement, the building management (and the insurance company) may be obligated to fix things. Ultimately, it'll come out of the reserve, and you'll probably have to top that up, but management NEEDS to know what's going on with the electrical in the building.

comment What's the right connector for connecting #12 solid copper to #14 stranded?
I doubt the exhaust fan REQUIRES a dedicated 20A circuit if the internal wiring is 14 ga. It looks like your installation instructions have been LAWYERED!

comment What is the allowable span of 2 stacked 6x6's?
I think that should be 2mg, not 3. The tension in the rope is 2mg, and that's the force transferred to the beam.

comment Are cheap electric brad nail guns worth it for fixing mouldings?
Whatever you do, don't get an electric stapler that will shoot brads. You'll end up with bent brads that won't penetrate the MDF. Ask me how I know this.

Generally, we frown upon shopping questions here. But, the overriding problem is interesting. I've edited it to make the question a bit more general, hoping to get some broader answers, and perhaps some assistance on replacing it.

comment Current flowing in to a house
It depends on the age of the neighbourhood. Call the utility and ask. If you want to go to 200 A, then you may need to pay to have new conductors strung from the transformer to the house. In the worst case, they'll need to replace the transformer.

comment Can I alter the 'timing' of my toilet flush?
Get a bucket of water and dump it right into the bowl. If the toilet flushes normally, then it's up in the tank. The noise you're talking about sounds like a constriction in the inflow, which is most likely due to the valve not being fully open. But i believe that to be unrelated to the flushing problems.

I think they want an actual switch, that can be locked off.

comment Is it safe to drill small holes in load-bearing concrete beams for expansion bolts?
Unless you're talking about going up through the bottom. But I doubt a drill, with a masonry bit on hammer mode would get very far into steel.
