I'm the sole developer for a publishing house, doing on-line courses and exams.

We have a web designer, who typically does layouts and courses, but I do anything that involves programming logic.

comment Shall I undercut the drywall to let the baseboard cover the hardwood floor expansion gap?
In my experience it has always been 1/4 inch on each side.

comment Will spilling a little liquid (beer, say) on untreated plywood for very little time damage or warp it?
You really shouldn't do that to your beer.

Whatever you do, it better have a playoff override. You don't want him missing out on overtime.

You'll need a 3.5mm stereo to mono adapter as well to merge the two channels. Example: monoprice.com/products/…

comment Why is the top step of a stair a different thickness than the other treads?
Yes, the groove end matches the flooring. The nose end hangs out over, and down below the edge of the subfloor, so it's approximately the same thickness of the other treads.

comment Why is the top step of a stair a different thickness than the other treads?
No. It will be the thickness of the flooring. I don't think a 1/4" difference will be noticeable, especially at the upper run out. I've raised steps 3/4" with false treads, which alters the rise at the top by -3/4 and bottom by +3/4, and haven't stumbled at all.

I'd find out who owns that utility line running across and make them pay for the repair.

I'm not sure what you mean by question 1.
