How can I trim veneer edging? Don't forget, always cut with the grain. Some of the tear out is due to the grain catching on the blade. Make sure when you cut that the blade is traveling in the direction that compresses the grain rather than the direction that lifts it up. Another idea that doesn't depend on power tools is to cut it to within an eighth of an inch (1-2mm) then use a fine sanding block or flat file to remove the last bit. This will leave a nicely matching joint, but still requires some skill or at least close attention being paid while doing it. |

How soundproof is roxul / acoustical putty? If you added a monitor then you could regulate the volume level to suit the situation. With soundproofing you have a choice. |

How can I repair battery acid damage on a Caesar-stone counter? Surface roughened by etching. You could probably have the installer repolish the stone in that spot, though caeserstone is quite hard. It is man made, so it is polishable. It would be a multistep process with a power polisher and different grades of rouge. |

AC/DC adapters making strange buzzing crackling noise in all house, what causes it? The fact your speakers are making noise without any signal suggests a radio interference problem that might be caused by an arcing wire somewhere. This would not explain the transformer noise, though. Is all the sound coming from the speakers? And is aggravated by touching the transformer? That would suggest a problem with the shielding on your audio set up. |

What kind of glue can I use to attach a laminated poster to a wood frame? I still think double stick foam tape is the way to go. Sticks well to most anything except grease or dust. Rolling the poster backward and leaving it for some days would help. Put it in a tube if you can so the corners will be uncurled also. If no tube then try wrapping it with something larger that will hold the corners down, otherwise they will stay curled when the rest is flat. |

What are the proper materials and method to hang heavy-duty shelves in a garage for storage? Excellent answer! Very clear explanation of the issues of hanging or not hanging shelves. These kit shelves are competitive with raw materials, available in different weights and are very sturdy. Heartily recommended. |

What should I consider when designing a simple bookcase that will be built without power tools? I remember the square blocks, too. They were about 4 inches thick and would have made for unstable shelving here in earthquake country. Hence the use of wider blocks. Pufferfish might be able to use them, though. They would take up less of the shelf. |

How many bags of concrete do I need? Looking again, this looks like a homework problem, so it doesn't have to reflect common sense at all. |
