What is this knob on our fireplace? I first read this as "Who is this knob in our fireplace?" and thought "Santa". |

What is this knob on our fireplace? "If not up the flue, then..." Too often on the internet someone assumes I know what they mean and so they just write '...' and then I am confused. So: "If not up the flue, then in to your house, which is really bad for you." |

What projects should never be DIY? I'll clarify the question. (Welcome to diy.stackexchange.com. I think this could have been a constructive comment on the question, instead of a rant in an answer, and that would have been a been a better contribution to the site. ) |

Is there a way to build interior walls that are easy to change? I'm designing a house for future construction. As a novice designer, I want to hedge my bets. As a techno-geek, I want to install Super-Cat9-whatever when it gets invented. |

Is there an alternative to a self-piercing saddle valve for a humidifier? Does having a humidifier mean you're likely to get mold? Or are you doing something else to mitigate that? |

How does the cost of conduit compare to conventional wiring? I can see that I was unclear. I have edited the question. I'm convinced that I should use conduit, but I'm trying to find the right balance. |

How best can I discover what is up with my electrical bill? Do you run the AC all summer long, and the heat all winter? What temperature do you set the thermostat to, and how does that compare to your neighbors? |

How do I repair a curtain rod anchor that was ripped out of the wall? In my family this happens over & over. Our landlord put in really long curtains, which makes them an easy target. |

What's a good general purpose light-use drill? @merk: sometimes a brace is preferred in tight quarters, as the racheting function lets you swing the handle around in open space. |
