What is the best drill bit to pre-drill holes for screws of a certain size? I like this advice, but it depends on the kind of wood that you are fastening to. If you are screwing into a dense wood, you want to just have the threads cutting into the wood. If the wood is less dense, you will want a slightly smaller hole. |

How do I keep water from getting in and out of a dishwasher drain air gap? It's pretty likely that there is a clog in the part of the tube that goes to the sink drain. Pull that hose off, and make sure that that it isn't clogged, and that the pipe that feeds into the drain or disposal isn't clogged. I once had a piece of carrot from the disposal clog mine. |

How is it that two breaker switches control the same things? @TomG this is very common; people replace an outlet and don't realize that it was switched. I had a "switch that did nothing" in my current house because of this. |

Do 240V receptacle use the same connectors as 120V receptacles for the same amperage? It's not clear what you mean by "connectors"? Do you mean the plugs that are used, or the wire nuts that are used to connect wires together? |

How do I easily separate unglued PVC pipe from joints? Decker is right on with this - when you dry fit, the pipes may not go all the way into the fittings. |
