comment Fluorescent fixture won't stay lit
I do have a concern about ballast mismatch. The ballast sent to me as a replacement does not list the bulbs that came with the unit. I went to a lighting store and found that the bulbs listed on the replacement ballast are not what you would find in most stores but that the voltage and current rating should handle my bulbs just fine. iow, it shows a F24 and F32 bulbs on the replacement ballast while mine is a F28.

It's not a question of fear. I'm looking for ideas wrt air flow while keeping a balanced system as best as can be done with this layout.

I'm going to try and shut one or two vents down this weekend and see what happens.

comment How many lights do I need for my basement?
Does that work anymore considering he might be using LED lights? Equivalent lighting can work but he must consider lumens, not watts.

comment Shower head pipe recessed: what do I need?
Are you saying this is a copper pipe from the source, without any couplers?

comment Wiring for Internet of Things
You're stating my point. It won't matter what people want to do. There is a limit at the moment that may keep this from working for many people. Maybe it can and will be solved but it's not solved yet.

comment Wiring for Internet of Things
My only question about the thought that hardwiring becoming obsolete is, what happens when every house on every block has wifi for every switch, light, thermostat, TV, etc. Wireless is not as reliable as wire so does this become unworkable at some point. It's something I've not taken much time to think about.

comment What could cause the blower in my furnace to come on?
Some modern electronic controllers cycle the fan on to increase air circulation for comfort. Check your owner's manual.

Online they don't show it but there is one down the street so I'll go there later. Thanks.

comment Steel wool around a gas pipe
I tried finding stainless steel wool at HomeDepot and Lowes. Neither carries it but they do have bronze steel wool. It doesn't rust but would it interact with the steel (or iron) gas pipe?

I would but I've read that mice will eat through the foam.

Is rusting of the steel wool a concern?
