I'm an Englishman.
I primarily work within the C family of languages (mostly C# at the moment).
I am also secretary for the Ann Arbor .NET Developers Group.
In my spare time, I love to write (songs, short stories, novels, scripts) though I am unpublished. I also like to game, sing and play my guitar (not necessarily at the same time).

How do I regrade the ground around my house? @Brian: Thanks for the info. We're actually in Michigan (not too far away) - I know we have to call 1-800-DIG-SAFE but I haven't investigated if there's anything else we would need to do, yet. (I'm not looking to tackle this right now what with Winter approaching) |

How do I regrade the ground around my house? I would say it's only two or three feet at most, depending on where abouts around the house. I don't know about the depth without checking but I don't think it's much. |

How do I regrade the ground around my house? @ChrisP: Yes, we have a basement below the grade. No, there doesn't seem to be any water leaking through the walls. Sump pump is working as expected. There are some places where it is clear that water sits against the house, hence the desire to regrade. |

What steps should I take when cabling a drain? Thanks, Chris. We had the plumber out today and it was certainly an event. Once he got access to the drain, a 4-inch wide, 6 foot snake of cottage cheese consistency "stuff" came oozing out. He said it must've been backed up for possibly years and was amazed that our kitchen and bathroom had been draining at all. A lovely afternoon cleaning up the basement - thanks to the people who sold us the house, I guess. |

What steps should I take when cabling a drain? @Jay: The plumber we had out did indeed recommend something like that after he had finished cabling. |
