comment Metals in pool turn water green after adding shock, what's the solution?
Thanks @James (+1) - I guess, if heavy metals such as iron are minerals (not sure if they are). Like what Tester101 posted.

comment How to bypass a clogged water softener?
Thanks @alt (+1) - if these suggestions don't work, I'll definitely call in a plumber. But in the interest of saving money, I figured I'd try to d.i.m (do it myself), which is why I'm here!

And if so, I imagine that I first want to close B1, and then open B2? Or does the order-of-operations not matter? (Also, do I need to do anything with B3)?

Thank you @Ecnerwal (+1)! So, just to confirm, it sounds like my B1 valve is open and my B2 valve is closed, meaning that I am in fact routing water to my softener? Thanks again!

Thanks @Tester101 (+1) - I got home tonight and checked the houses; they're running perfectly strong. So this is definitely a plumbing issue in my house that lies somewhere after the hoses branch off from the trunk. Thanks again!
