@John Interesting! In that case, I'll defer to the gurus. =)

comment Is there a technique or tool for consistently placing drywall screws correctly?
All of the suggestions on here are outstanding but the dimpler bit was the easiest way to proceed for me.

comment Is it worth spending extra to get a nicer circular saw?
@Doresoom One criticism I've heard about Ryobi is that their stock saw blade is poor. Consider getting a new one if you buy it. Still a good value though.

Agreed. If you're performing saw-related work on a daily basis, then DeWalt would be more appropriate. But personally, I've been happy enough with my Harbor Freight stuff. On a side note, I've heard positive reviews for Ryobi. That might be a good middle ground. homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xgl/R-100634339/h_d2/…

comment How to repair fallen tile near kitchen floor?
Just following-up. Your advice worked out great. I actually found a combination pre-mixed adhesive/grout at Home Depot that worked for both steps (not at the same time obviously).

Thanks! Great find on the grout-in-a-tube too. I was wondering about that =)

+1 for Belkin. I love mine but I'm also in a low-lighting region. newegg.com/Product/…-12-107-141--Product

I've never used one before but I'm a little skeptical. I couldn't find anywhere on the manufacturer's site (or amazon page) that describes warranty or reimbursement coverage. Granted that's those are typically very limited anyway.

Thanks! Can you answer my other questions too? 1) What types of texture patterns are available using this method? 2) How do the finished results compare to other texturing methods? 3) Is there a noticeable difference in quality? 4) Is there a cost benefit for rolled-on textures?

comment What are the pros and cons of rolled-on wall/ceiling texture paint?
@mohlsen I'm referring to textures that can be applied via a paint roller instead of more traditional methods like a hopper gun.

Just an update -- primer/sealer seemed to work the best after trying a variety of different cleaning products. Thanks!

Looks like this one is a toughie so I'm placing a bounty =). Can't seem to find any resources online either and the contractors I've spoken with aren't readily familiar with it.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for. I'll do more research and report back on how things go.

I'm also surprised that I don't need 3 inch screws here. I guess I was thinking that since I would be screwing in from an angle, the screws would be going through more of the first 2x4 and thus I would need more length for it to secure into the second one. Guess that's not the case.

@woodchips @mike thanks! I was trying some strange gold screws last night without a pilot hole and they would go in an inch or two and then basically stop and start stripping the head (quite annoying). I'll try drilling a hole to start and get a different set of screws.
