comment What type of window is this and how can I remove it with minimal damage to the wall?
Fair point. I guess I'm a little concerned about removing the old window and not having the right new window to take it's place.

@mikes That's the thing - I don't see any nails or screws in the window tracks. I'm not sure I understand the other part of your question. The house has wood framing with stucco on the outside.

comment Is it safe to use a portable microwave in a confined shelfspace?
Right - no new enclosure. Just putting it in a cupboard shelf that already exists. Good points though. Thanks!

+1 for everything, especially the note about unhappy spouses. Happy wife = happy life. :-)

comment How can I remove skunk smell from house?
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. It seems like the mixture helped. From what I understand, it forms an alkaline peroxide that breaks down the oil. I'm also trying leaving bowls of vinegar out which seems to have helped (either that or at least distract the senses while cleaning).

comment How can I fix my leaky bathtub faucet with minimal damage to the wall?
@Tester101 unfortunately there's a bathroom shower on the other side. Thankfully, the plumbing for the other shower doesn't share the same wall. So there's basically just tile in the place I'd need to be. Hope that makes sense. =)

comment How should I fill in decorative “gashes” in wood siding?
Thanks @ShirlockHomes. After doing this, I'm likely going to want to paint over it. Will I need any special paints to work with both wood and the filler?

@TheEvilGreebo It's a single pane window with metal frame.

Just closing the loop on this one. Went under the house and the P trap was completely corroded -- actually the whole pipe for that matter. Called out our plumber and they replaced the drain in under an hour. Thanks again for your help.

If wireless isn't an option, why not use powerline networking?

Do you have a picture? I would think that the answer would depend on the extent of the damage and where exactly it is.

comment What primer and paint should I used for a solid-core wooden front door?
Hi Shirlock. I'm curious -- why is it a bad idea to remove the door from frame before installation?
