comment Running a new 240v circuit for a dryer
Might want to figure out the operating costs of gas vs electric dryer first. In some places with high electricity prices it would be cheaper in the long run to sell the used electric dryer and buy a new/used gas one.

comment What kind of electrical projects are safe for DIY in the US?
@comintern every renovation project I take photos of every walll before all the drywall goes up - very handy years later when I want to change something, or need to know exactly where a pipe or wire is.

comment New doorbell stopped working, now not working properly
@Robert if you are opening the electrical box you turn off the main breaker. Then the entire box EXCEPT the main breaker and wire feeding it will be off.

comment Drilling, hit metal running vertical floor to ceiling
I have a stud finder of the same brand, slightly different model. It starts detecting about an inch from either side of my studs, making them appear to be 4" wide. They aren't (other side of one wall is open so I can see the studs), its just not very accurate.

comment Which tools should not be operated while wearing gloves?
The glove may not cause the accident, but if the glove wraps around the tool and pulls your hand in, it could make the difference between getting a bandaid or an amputation.

comment Why is a steel security door safe if they can break the glass, slide their hand in, and unlock the door?
@Mr. Tea the zombies might smash the window but they won't figure out how to turn the lock, so no worries about them.

comment How to fix a hole in laminate floor?
How good of a repair are you trying to achieve here? The methods for "good as new" may be different from "ugly, but at least my foot doesn't get caught on the hole". Do you still have the missing chunk that was torn from the floor?

Have you tried using a screwdriver or something to push the button further? I know on a few of mine my big fingers cant push the reset button all the way in.

comment What is the proper way to run ethernet cable along walls and doors
While this works, its a bad idea. You need special types of cable for running outside or through plenum spaces, and shouldn't be run through air ducts at all - they will help spread a fire and release toxic fumes.
