comment Removing paint from wood
Plus one for the answer above, however, i would actually try the scraping with a light pressure first (instead of sanding). you may be able to scrape the paint of relatively easy.. another solution would be paint stripper.. but this will remove the varnish from the wood (resulting in a re-varnish) -- something that sanding would also necessitate.

comment What kind of lubrication should I use for a lock?
I use lithium based grease, it lasts longer than wd-40 and the graphite powders and serves as a moisture barrier. only problem is, if the lock is used in a dusty environment, the lock will attract dust particles. Still my locks work perfectly all the time (probably over 50 locks)

comment How to remove the tap head from this kind of tap?
Is that a locking pin screw (on top of the "t" on the word "tapping".. if so, i would recommend removing the screw before you tap the inner ring.

comment Overhead lights in apartmenet units flicker and eventually goes off…what is the cause and fix?
The Lights and the Plugs(outlets) will be on two separate circuits, I assume all four units are supplied by the same Distribution Box? How do the lights go back on? does a trip switch need to be reset?

comment Water seeping out of grout in exterior corner of tiled shower curb
It looks like you have a problem with seepage behind the tile (since a leaking shower should not soak into the wall so much).. My assumption is that water is seeping in from the interior of the shower and running behind your wall tile... Questions: how high do your wall tiles go, do you have wall tiles inside the shower, if you tap the wall tile in the picture, does it sound hollow?

comment Technique to level a patio for concrete and tiling
Excellent answer, my only concern is that I dont really have too much clearance off the ground to work with (since i need to get the end pieces vertical)... Would it work if i terminate the hose with 90deg elbows then put the clear pieces onto the vertical end of each elbow - otherwise i will just add a few inces to my stakes and then subtract the extra height later??

comment How should I protect the metal of a power rack that's kept outdoors?
At the end of the day the thicker your material, the longer it will last in terms of rust. Metal oxide primer with an enamel coating will last. but you will be guaranteed to have rust where moisture can sit (this is near joints, inside the tubing, or on flat surfaces) and in areas where you chip the paint. If your tubing is allowed to fill with water, it will rust in no time. If you are near the coast, rust will be faster. with that in mind, I do pool fencing which, lasts 30years with paint.. There is no contest wrt galvanizing however it will not rust and will be maintenance free for 30yrs +
