comment How to address mold/moss on newer roof?
I will take a look. I am a bit worried about adding any holes to the roof, even with compound. that stuff seems to shrink and fail over time. I live in New England and have many shade trees and eves that this stuff grows in the shadow of.

@bib - you would think that someone would be forward thinking enough to stock pile some of these babies 13 years before tea party. I am about 30 mins from the Boston Harbor to boot :)

So two washers on the water taps might be ok? They look fairly new and I suspect that this was done prior to sale to fix a worse leak than we are noticing. Should I go with a thicker set up? after all, it is still dripping with the curent config.

comment How much weight can an old work box hold?
I will have to check the weight. I can't really move it. It will need to be centered over the sink and the studs are not wood the're metal studs. But great info!

The wall is in good shape. I figured I would ask due to the two small ears that will be behind the sheet rock.

comment Is it possible to use this reclaimed hardwood flooring?
upvote for you input - Would running them through a planer be an alternative? As the room is open to the kitchen and a stairway, it will be difficult, but not impossible to mask off. Thats why I was thinking about having them at least refaced off the floor. They have a finsh coat of something on them(not sure what they used back then). So not sure if it would burn out blades along with mikes's comment on wood hardness being this old.

Worth a try. I think I can block up the room pretty good with the plastic. Is there a special smoke maker? Is it like a stick or something? Can i get it at the hardwarestore?

It's a steel door with a glass panel. Not sure that the house is "tight", it was built in 1760. Is there a way to isolate the door and doo the smoke test? It sounds like a good idea.

@gregmac I love Mike Holms, so don't get me wrong here, he made the storm door statment and I was thinking "he's right" that's when my wife brought up the Norm statement. I just want the water to not come in. If I have to go with storm door than so be it. I have little time left to get the leak fixed and the floor done and just need the best way to fix/address the issue.

@TheEvilGreebo - I have at just the door and that seems to be the point of infultaration. I have recently replaced the siding with Clapboards and there are no running seams over the door.

comment Do I have to remove the old thinset before installing new tile?
up vote for your comment - The walls have just been painted in the bathrooms. Will this fling the "mud" all over the place? Can it be done with misting water to keep the dust down? I like this idea as well.

If I could choose both answers I would. Your input was most helpful and I wish I could give you some of my rep for taking the time to answer. TY.

I will rent the power chisle to get the thin set off. The MC hammer was an option I didn't even think about....Hmmm Can't touch this....Could be handy if I go far with the power chisle and he could warn me that I have gone to far into the concrete. lol. Nice touch!
