Became a first time home owner in 2011. It was at the near the bottom of the price range in my region, and for good reason. While my neighbors tell me the house was the jewel of the neighborhood in 2005, it had slowly fallen in to disrepair from the abuse of 5 children and many pets and a general disregard for regular maintenance.
I have been excited to use this as a learning experience in many new skills as I slowly restore the house to its former glory.

How do I patch this hole in my vinyl window frame? It's a second story window, but it's was a nursery/small child's room. So maybe it was some sort of security pin to prevent the window from being opened too wide so the kid couldn't push out through the screen? But is the best solution really one that does irreversible damage? Thanks for helping me solve the mystery. |

How should I fill 1/8" nail holes in a hardwood floor? I looked at this question before asking a similar question in regard to chips and scratches in our laminate flooring. I was pleasantly surprised to see that repair kit is for laminate as well. I'm new to the site, but maybe this would be a good edit to the original question or should it be a separate question? |

How complicated is it to convert a hinged two door closet to a sliding doors? In the 2nd picture, where would be the ideal location for the track? @BMitch, I'm not familiar with the complete construction of a door. When you say remove the top casing, would this require removing all of the trim first in order to get at attaching the top track directly to the framing? |
