comment How can I protect my (engineered) hardwood floor from scratching?
So your answer is there is nothing I can apply to my floors that would make them more scratch resistant. Is it possible to "reapply a UV finish"? What would such a product be called in a home improvement store (or is a process that consumers could even do without special equipment)?

Could you clarify what you mean by finish? Does home improvement stores sell something called 'wood floor finish'? How does one know what type of finish the wood has or should buy?

Although a good suggestion, this does not address the question.

comment Whats the easiest way to fix sticky painted furniture so that it's no longer sticky?
Its been a little over 9 months from the time I painted, and the furniture has definitely dried (become less sticky) over time. Mine is still slightly sticky (if you leave something on for a couple days it still peels off a tiny bit) but I think mine is the extreme case (I had MANY coats of paint, painted on too quickly over the other). While it was at its stickiest state, I just put a cloth over the surface top and put my things on that which kept things from sticking (and risk paint peeling off). I tried heat and talc powder, which didnt seem to help. Ultimately time was the solution.

comment What kind of tool is used to stir paint in a can?
Be careful not to mix too fast too long. It will create air bubbles in the paint which will then show up on the wall (or whatever you are painting).

comment How do I measure a standard sliding glass door?
That was what I figured out through my experience as well (the standard door sizes). However, I would recommend everybody measure their door by removing the trim, as the frame is probably not exact. The height of my frame was 79.5 inches tall, meaning a door of 80" height would have been too tall (though most manufacturered doors arent exactly 80" tall)

Thank you Shirlock. Following your advice I simply had to remove the trim, and then could see the wooden frame and measure appropriately. This was something I could do quite easily, and would say any homeowner could do. If anyone else wants to try it just be sure to score the trim before you do, to minimize paint peeling off with the trim.

comment What is the best way to condition and protect a hardwood floor under heavy use?
FWIW I have engineered wood and bought the urethane wheels. They work for a while but if you let enough dust build on them (or on the floor) the floor still gets scratched. I regret not getting a rug in the first place as that would have been the most effective solution.
