comment Can I run water lines through the attic?
@user18116 I think you still run a high risk of your pipes freezing. If there are no tee's or joints in the cold area, it seems less likely to me that you would have a leak.

My money says the lines will freeze. PEX is pretty resilient to splitting when water freezes inside it, however the fittings are not. This is a leak waiting to happen. Also, I can't imagine a licensed/bonded plumber did the work; that could impact insurance coverage if a leak results in damage.

Oh and as far as not being able to drill into the concrete, did you use a masonry bit?

My hammer drill sounds and feels exactly like a normal drill except when pressing the end (where the bit goes) into something. Take out the bit, press it into your palm, and pull the trigger. Is it still identical?

comment Why does my gas water heater's pilot light go out when I replace the outer door?
My water heater has a plastic mesh to filter out larger things from getting into the combustion chamber. I've heard that these can get dirty to the point where there is insufficient air flow to allow the pilot to keep going. Do you have a similar mesh filter at the bottom of your water heater?

comment How can I fix a shower faucet valve where hot and cold suddenly reversed?
I think it's a Delta. See if this video helps you (especially around 1m20s) youtube.com/watch?v=XkanSw90Czw And don't be too fearful; those stems/valves are like $20 are a big box store. I watched a couple of videos and got real comfortable with the process and changed my Moen last week in about 10 minutes.

comment How to better waterproof the shower area?
pladur=drywall, right? There are various types of drywall that are engineered with different properties. Generally, water resistant drywall is used in bathrooms. Are you sure the vent is venting to the exterior of your house?

Is there a vent in the bathroom and if so are you sure it's venting properly? Is the drywall moisture resistant?

comment How to add indicator on a light switch to indicate the outdoor 3-way light is on?
I always preferred the light sensing fixtures and they were just always on. A light in the house might solve the issue (depends on how noticeable it would be to you).
