comment Aerogel insulation viable?
It is extremely light, extremely thin, and an incredible insulator. It makes it an almost perfect material for space shuttles. Here is a more comprehensive list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerogel

comment What type of material should I use for a shelf over a washer and dryer?
What are you planning on putting on the shelf? What is the distance between the washer/dryer and the shelf? And are you sure you want it 34" deep? That seems awfully deep to me for a shelf especially if it is above eye level.

comment Can I use a wood screen door to replace a sliding screen door on a french door
I just ran into a similar situation. The right solution is to replace the sliding screen door. There are kits you can order and have delivered for about $100

comment Should I use a stripper or sander to remove paint on my deck?
In my opinion it is. But I'm not a professional, so a pro weighing in couldn't hurt.

comment Is this water stain from rust or (other) minerals
I think it is rust and it looks like it is actually coming from behind the clapboard. It appears to me that you have water running down this exterior wall on the inside. This should be checked.

comment Why are our toilets not flushing correctly after our septic system was cleaned?
Does the toilet look like it's taking a gulp of air when you flush? Or a big bubble coming up?

comment How can I improve my gasoline can spout?
@AloysiusDefenestrate I ended up buying that particular product and it was a snap to install and makes my gas can function in a more traditional manner. If you want to set the as an answer, I'll accept. Thanks to everyone else for suggestions and input!

comment Is a dryer vent tube being compressed like this up to code?
My concern with smashing the pipe (and why I think it could matter) is a seam may have split open and hot, moist air would get ejected into the void, but from the picture, that doesn't appear to have happened. So, I think it could matter.

comment How can I improve my gasoline can spout?
@JoelKeene I guarantee I lose more gas dispensing into my mower than would ever evaporate.

comment How can I improve my gasoline can spout?
@ThreePhaseEel Positive I assembled it correctly. The leak is at the safety mechanism on my current can, not where the can and spout meet. Odd thing is it doesn't always leak.

I'm also checking into the possibility of using a "water can" that looks suspiciously like a gas can but is a different color of plastic.
