What are the tools that every Do-it-Yourselfer must own? Yes, 12 point sockets are typically for engine building and specialty. Emphasis is on obtaining 6 point sockets. |

How do you remove the stick-on child safety locks from appliances? It turns out I was able to yank them off with some muscle without damaging the surface. They are a foam backing, so while Joe's suggestion did not work, peeling them back did work well without needing to apply any WD-40 or similar. |

Where can I find garage building plans? Free would be nice, but I'm personally willing to reward an architect/supplier for having a good design. |

Can I use a 50 Hz device in a 60 Hz power frequency? Heating elements may not care about 50Hz to 60Hz, but probably will care about dropping from 60Hz to 50Hz. Doing so will make it work harder because the voltage spends more time in the positive and negative peaks and therefore draw provide more current. This effect also overheats anything with windings, like electric motors and transformers. |

Can I use a 50 Hz device in a 60 Hz power frequency? Make sure it's rated for the power of the espresso machine or you'll burn out the converter or the espresso machine. |

Is a gas water heater safe in a bedroom? Sure, I wouldn't mind a large container of scalding hot water surrounded by FIRE in my bedroom closet. |

Can a house with moldy, flooded basement be a likely fixer upper? About every recently built house with a basement in my area (Delaware) has a sump pump as a precaution. The predominant red clay soil may be a factor in this practice. This house is about 8-10 years old. e.g. My current house has one and it does kick on from time to time during storms or hot/humid days when the AC condensation builds up in the sump. |

Can a house with moldy, flooded basement be a likely fixer upper? Note the sump pump was the cause of the flood. The house is not in a flood plane or near any large bodies of water. |
